There is no state homeschool registration process
The Idaho Department of Education says homeschooling is directed by the parent or guardian. Its current homeschool page states that Idaho does not regulate or monitor homeschool education and has no registration or sign-up procedure.
The state does not keep your child’s homeschool record
The department’s homeschool FAQ says there are no state-level reporting requirements, lists, monitoring, or check-ins. It also says the department does not maintain records for homeschool families and recommends that families keep their own attendance and work-completion records.
A practical Idaho family file
- A dated attendance or learning log
- A list of subjects and curriculum used
- Representative work samples and project photos
- Grades, progress notes, or assessment results
- Official records from dual-enrollment, online, or outside providers
- A running transcript and credit record for high school
Why keep more than the minimum?
Good records can help with a future school transfer, college application, scholarship, activity eligibility, family review, or simply planning the next school year. Those receiving organizations may have their own requirements, so ask them directly before a deadline.
