Notify the county superintendent each year
Montana Code 20-5-109 requires a homeschool to notify the county superintendent in the county where the homeschool is located during each school fiscal year. Keep a copy of the notice and any confirmation with the family’s permanent records.
Attendance and immunization records are specifically named
The same statute requires pupil attendance and disease-immunization records to be maintained and made available to the county superintendent on request. The law also requires at least the minimum aggregate hours of instruction described elsewhere in Montana law.
Keep an organized course record
Montana requires an organized course of study that includes the subjects required of public schools as a basic instructional program. The parent remains responsible for instructional philosophy, materials, curriculum, time, place, method, and evaluation under 20-5-111.
