A photo needs context to become a record
A picture of a model, garden, animal-care task, or science experiment may be meaningful to you but unclear to someone else. Add a short caption that explains who completed it, when, the subject, the learning goal, and what the student did independently.
Use a three-part evidence set
- One process photo showing the student doing the work
- One finished-result photo
- One short student or parent reflection
Choose examples that show change
A strong portfolio shows a beginning point, a middle example, and later work. That sequence makes progress visible and keeps the portfolio from becoming a scrapbook of unrelated highlights.
Protect private details
Crop addresses, account numbers, full birth dates, medical information, and other unrelated personal details before saving or sharing images. A private family portfolio does not need to reveal everything visible in the original photo.
Check the purpose before you export
A family keepsake, state review, school transfer, scholarship, and college arts portfolio may each need different evidence. Confirm the receiving organization’s instructions before choosing the final samples.
